Poetry Friday: Butterfly, Butterfly

I'm eager for spring! You? I did see the ladybugs are hatching. :~)

Poetry Friday

Butterfly, Butterfly

Butterfly, butterfly,
Whence do you come?
I know not, I ask not,
Nor ever had a home.

Butterfly, butterfly,
Where do you go?
Where the sun shines,
And where the buds grow.

I was taught a "ladybug, ladybug" song that the repetition of this brings to mind -- not the one where the bug's house is on fire, either:

Ladybug, ladybug, fly away, do
Fly to the mountain, and feed upon dew;
Feed upon dew and sleep on a rock -
And then fly away, fly away,
Like a good little bug.
