Lionel and Molly, Colors: Joanna Lake

Lionel and Molly, Colors is a new touch-and-feel book from little bee books. Joanna Lake's two characters explore color, weather, and texture together. Illustrated by Jess Racklyeft, with a touch of sophistication in the simplicity, text and imagery are a nice balance. The inserted textures are an added bonus for little readers' fingers.

Introduce your totz to multiple concepts with Colors. Look for more from Lionel and Molly.

Lionel and Molly, Opposites: Joanna Lake

Lionel and Molly are the best of friends, even though they are quite opposite. Comparing the mouse and lion, along with textured inserts, makes a fun read for your smallest readertotz.

Lionel and Molly, Opposites shows how two friends can be different: loud and quiet, big and small, with varied interests. However, they both enjoy tea parties.

Jess Racklyeft's textured but simple shapes read easily with Joanna Lake's words. The added bonus of texture is an enjoyable surprise.

Shark Bite! by Beatrice Costamagna, Little Bee Books

Shark Bite! is a fun read for your readertotz, helping them to see maybe the fearsome can be friendly after all. On each spread, Mark the shark shows his teeth, and a pull tab allows the reader to chomp through the book.

Scary, then angry, then laughing, thanks to the tickling octopus, Mark finds friendship in the sea. Beatrice Costamagna's illustrations are bright and inviting. Look for Shark Bite! for your readertotz and take a bite out of this board book this summer.

Welcome, little bee books!

In this fresh new year, Joan and I are happy to welcome little bee books to the world. With a firm grasp of writing the very best for the very youngest, their line has launched. Take a look:

Adorable, yes? Jedda Robaard's text has just the right amount of weight with perfect pacing. Your readertotz will love the tension as Little Fox looks for his tail, and Little Mouse seeks her squeak. Robaard's illustrations appear to be light pencil and watercolor with much white space for a font with its own personality.

We applaud little bee for joining the effort to promote literacy in the youngest reader with quality board, novelty, picture, and activity books. Watch for more reviews from Joan and an upcoming give-away. Further info soon!

Happy new year from readertotz and little bee books!
